Bulimia is a particular eating disorder where the victim indulges in excessive eating and purging. They indulge in foods that are fattening and high in calories; even if they are not hungry. This is followed by the feeling of guilt accompanied by attempting to remove the food from their body through methods such as vomiting.

Bulimia nervosa is different from anorexic nervosa in one aspect. Bulimics indulge in food while anorexic do the opposite. Bulimics and Anorexics mostly display similar symptoms.

In America itself, the number of bulimics would fall within the range of 2%-6%. Percentage wise, this may seem to be a small number. However, if you translate that to the actual amount, it can add up to quite a big number.

I was browsing through the “Mind your body” insert in today’s Straits times when I came across this ad on Glaucoma.  It mentioned about the public talks and eye screening timings at various eye clinics islanwide, Singapore. Curious, as I wear glasses myself,  I did a little research on it.

Follow the link to a comprehensive feature on this disease. http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/139/main.html.

In this world, “Thank You,” “Please,” “Sorry” has all become non existent in families. When was the last time you said any one them to your close ones? And have you noticed how freely we tend to use these words in the outside world. Be it friends or colleagues. We are never shy from using a “Thank you” or “Please” to the circle outside family. Why is this?

Why do we take family for granted? Is it because there is a definite relationship? Say it or not, our spouse and kids will be there anyways. Is it because they mean less to us? Is it because we just can’t be bothered? Is it because it is their duty to do whatever they do for us? Is it because we think they do not need the recognition?

Say a word of thanks to your wife when she serves you dinner. You may not mean it but that gesture itself would mean a lot to your spouse.

Say a word of apology to your kids if you shout at them. You may not mean this but it would make a great difference for your child.

Please make yourself a promise; to always treasure your family.

Wahi… with lots of love and Thanks 😀

If you’re still holding on to some hurt feelings or leftover issues from your past, today is the day that you need to move past them. They are clouding your thinking and causing you to think things about someone in your life right now that simply aren’t true. Are you judging someone based on the actions of someone else? This person’s role in your life is potentially very important, so you need to spend time with them today and give them the chance to show you who they really are.

Source : Yahoo, Astrology.com

This is the first time I am seeing something that is every bit true. Usually I get crappy forecasts; eaning they don’t seem to make any connection anywhere in my life. Neither do they even seem to unfold… Haha… Now don’t start contemplating that I do this all the time. Today is 29th Feb! and yea, Occassionally I do glance through after the day is over to see if anything did happen as stated… But today, it just stole the words of my inner heart… hmm… Astrolgy forecasts do hit the bulls eye once in a blue moon 😀

It can be quite a boring affair when your child is asleep, your mother is praying, your sis is trying out new recipes and your dad is out at work while better half is abroad. In such situations, where I have none to talk to, I normally turn to my “silent” companion, “Television.”

However, today, that would have to wait. I need to at least browse through the copy of “India Today – Women,” which I took from my flight lst Jan. The cover is still intact. Well, I can be lazy, meaning, very very lazy (cheeky smile :D).

Archana Tyagi SharmaCover story was about Mrs Archana Tyagi Sharma. What an interesting read. After Kiran BediKiran Bedi,            this is one other police woman who caught my attention. Great track record and what is most heartwarming is the attitude of this lady. Reminded me of the Vijayashanti movies of the past :D.

You can read the same issue, online version here: http://indiatoday.digitaltoday.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&issueid=39&id=3382&§ionid=20&secid=18

It got me so interested that I came online instantly to do a little lookup on Mumbai Police. To my mazement, I found 2 stories, which are quite disturbing actually.

Jodha Akbar controversy was one side where there was a small explosion in one of the cinema hall screening it on the release date and how prompt the police were to come into action. You can read more on it here: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Blast_in_theatre_showing_Jodhaa/articleshow/2799242.cms .  While, on the same page was a link to another story “Goons hang Jhansi youth in public.” http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/India/Goons_hang_Jhansi_youth_in_public/articleshow/2803121.cms .

Just look at the situations and the reactions of the police. I am utterly ashamed and deeply saddened that my initial pride has turned into somewhat a fantasy. Prompt actions were taken in the former situation compared to the latter! It could be the different modus operandi of the diff states. Still! Indian police force need to have some sort of “ekta.”

One blacksheep spoils the name of the rest in the herd; however, in this case, I’d say there is still some hope of finding the light in the deep dark tunnel. Despite 90% (my own census ;)) of the police community being corrupt (strictly my opinion), officers like Tyagi still exist. It’s better to have an attitiude than follow the crowd!

The wait is finally over.

The first international youth Olympics will be hosted in Singapore!.  One more feather to her cap I would say. Recently, the trend is such that Singapore is out and about to get her hands on everything! And she slready has her hands full; She announced the Casino project, first Formula One night race and now the first International Youth Olympics.

This opportunity has come at the right time. Singapore saw the first sports school open in 2004 where it aimed to nurture students who had the passion for sports with curriculum. This would provide the morale boost for the students as well the nation as a whole to see what its calibre is.

When you lie

when you lie, do you realise it could ruin someone’s life?

when you lie, do you hear the shatter of someone’s heart?

when you lie, do you see the tears in someone’s eyes?

when you lie, do you feel the despair in someone’s hope?

when you lie, do you taste the bitterness of someone’s  dream?

when you lie, you lie

but when you lie, someone is in company with you

not with you, because of you…

                                                 wahi

A lie could be a route of escape or a means of getting something, for you.  However, it could have greater implications on others. Truth, although hard to handle or bitter, a person who speaks the truth need not remember what he has told others as the info would be the same. Be truthful, if not for yourself, for others. Thank you.

May Allah bless this soul who created this as well as those who pass this around to instill knowledge and respect, of prayers for prayers 😀 Ameen.

Just a reminder to ourselves….  A  story about a boy.......

He got up and realized that there were only 15 minutes left before Salat-ul Isha. He quickly made Wudhu and performed Salat-ul Maghrib.

While making Tasbih, he again remembered his grandmother and was embarrassed by how he had prayed. His grandmother prayed with such tranquility and peace.

He began making Dua and went down to make Sajdah and stayed like that for a while. He had been at school all day and was tired, so tired that he slept in the sajdah.

He awoke abruptly to the sound of noise and shouting. He was sweating profusely. He looked around. It was very crowded. Every direction he looked in was filled with people. Some stood frozen looking around, some were running left and right and some were on their knees with their heads in their hands just waiting.

Pure fear and apprehension filled him as he realized where he was.

His heart was about to burst. It was the Day of Judgement. When he was alive, he had heard many things about the questioning on the Day of Judgement, but that seemed so long ago. Could this be something his mind made up? No, the wait and the fear were so great that he could not have imagined this.

The interrogation was still going on. He began moving frantically from people to people to ask if his name had been called. No one could answer him. All of a sudden his name was called and the crowd split into two and made a passageway for him.

Two angels grabbed his arms and led him forward. He walked with unknowing eyes through the crowd. The angels brought him to the center and left him there. His head was bent down and his whole life was passing in front of his eyes lik e a movie. He opened his eyes but saw only another world.

The people were all helping others. He saw his father running from one lecture to the other, spending his wealth in the way of Islam.

His mother invited guests to their house and one table was being set while the other was being cleared. He pleaded his case, "I too was always on this path. I helped others. I spread the word of Allah. I performed my Salah. I fasted in the month of Ramadan. Whatever Allah ordered us to do, I did. Whatever he ordered us not to do, I did not."

He began to cry and think about how much he loved Allah. He knew that whatever he had done in life would be less than what Allah deserved and his only protector was Allah.

He was sweating like never before and was shaking all over. His eyes were fixed on the scale, waiting for the final decision. At last, the decision was made. The two angels with sh eets of paper in their hands, turned to the crowd. His legs felt like they were going to collapse. He closed his eyes as they began to read the names of those people who were to enter Jahannam.

His name was read first.

He fell on his knees and yelled that this couldn't be, "How could I go to Jahannam? I served others all my life, I spread the word of Allah to others". His eyes had become blurry and he was shaking with sweat. The two angels took him by the arms. As his feet dragged, they went through the crowd and advanced toward the blazing flames of Jahannam. He was yelling and wondered if there was any person who was going to help him. He was yelling of all the good deeds he had done, how he had helped his father, his fasts, prayers, the Qur'an that he read, he was asking if none of them would help him. The Jahannam angels continued to drag him.

They had gotten closer to the Hellfire. He looked back and these were his last pleas. Had not Rasulullah [saw] said, "How clean would a person be who bathes in a river five times a day, so too does the Salah performed five times cleanse someone of their sins"?

He began yelling, "My prayers? my prayers? my prayers." The two angels did not stop, and they came to the edge of the abyss of Jahannam. The flames of the fire were burning his face. He looked back one last time, but his eyes were dry of hope and he had nothing left in him.

One of the angels pushed him in. He found himself in the air and falling towards the flames. He had just fallen five or six feet when a hand grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back. He lifted his head and saw an old man with a long white beard. He wiped some dust off himself and asked him, "Who are you?" The old man replied, "I am your prayers". "Why are you so late! I was almost in the Fire! You rescued me at the last minute before I f ell in". The old man smiled and shook his head, "You always performed me at the last minute, did you forget?"

At that instant, he blinked and lifted his head from Sajdah. He was in a sweat. He listened to the voices coming from outside. He heard the adhan for Salat-ul Isha. He got up quickly and went to perform Wudhu.

Pass this on to ur friends and family, and maybe u can help someone open
their eyes........ and who knows?? maybe this is a good deed that can
help you during     the day of judgement....right???
